Imbolc, or Imbolic, is a polytheist festival associated with the goddess Brigid. At Imbolc, a doll-like figure of Brigid–called a Brídeóg– is made. The figure is then be paraded from house-to-house by girls, and sometimes accompanied by 'strawboys'. Brigid is said to visit one's home at Imbolc. To receive her blessings, people make a bed for Brigid and leave her food and drink, and items of clothing is left outside for her to bless. Brigid is also invoked to protect homes and livestock. Some people participate in special feasts and visits to holy wells, and it is a time for divination.
